
Lawyers for ‘The Colonial’ rape-situation defendants file motion for prices to be dropped
BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — The legal professionals of 3 gentlemen, two of which have been owners of the now-shut “The Colonial” bar and cafe, have submitted a movement to have the expenses in opposition to them dismissed.

Jordan Rindgen, one particular of the restaurant’s house owners, pleaded not responsible to drug and sex criminal offense charges. Yaron Kweller, the other proprietor, pleaded not responsible to rape. Leor Kweller, Yaron’s brother, pleaded not guilty to rape as properly. The not-responsible pleas occurred on March 31, 2022.
The rates are linked to a Nov. 27, 2021 incident at 141 Washington St. in Binghamton. Rindgen and the Kwellers had been arrested in February 2022.
Accusations of sexual misconduct at The Colonial began in early December 2021. For the duration of the time, The Colonial and its sister dining establishments, Dos Rios and The Stone Fox, shut quickly. Even so, shortly afterward, The Colonial and Dos Rios shut down for superior soon after a vote decided their destiny. Only The Stone Fox continues to be open up.
Public outrage grew in between the preliminary accusations and the arrests. On Dec. 11, 2021, protesters took to the streets of downtown Binghamton and demanded costs be brought to the entrepreneurs. The protestors carried indicators that claimed, “Beds don’t belong in bars,” “end rape culture” and “store liquor in your basement, not ladies.”
In response to the original promises, Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham and District Attorney Michael Korchak unveiled statements and videos promising that the legislation would convey justice to people who have been impacted.
With regards to Friday’s motion, the Broome County District Attorney’s Business office said it was not able to remark on it as it would be inappropriate to remark on pending conditions.
“We will deal with matters in court docket at the appropriate time,” a spokesperson for the business stated.
